A Note from the Principal
Dear Parents, The year is rapidly coming to a close and we are in a mad dash for the finish line. Congratulations parents, you've survived another year of school! First, a big thank you to all those who attended Open House last month. We had a fabulous turnout. I enjoyed walking around the campus and seeing you with your students. An even bigger thank you goes to those who took the time to write a note or personally say thank you to one of your child's teachers. The biggest thanks of all goes to the PFC and those who worked the PFC "Staff Appreciation" luncheon. We were well fed and enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with many of our parent volunteers. 6th Grade Parents: Wednesday, June 9 is the Tan Festival. The TAN Festival is a great opportunity for your child to showcase some of the things he/she has learned this year in LASS. Your child may drop off his/her materials for the TAN Festival between 8:00 and 8:30am on Wednesday, June 9. Please remember that it is your child's responsibility to set up his/her own materials for the Festival. Parents may not enter the TAN Festival area until the Festival officially begins at 10:40am. Drop off will not be allowed after 8:30am due to the use of the loop of our carpool parents. Parents, grandparents, and family members are welcome to attend the Festival between 10:40 and 11:40am. The Festival will be held on the upper basketball courts near the District Office. Please note: parking is extremely limited near the Festival. Feel free to bring cameras, video cameras, water, and sunscreen. Please leave your animals at home. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch on the day of the TAN Festival as the clean-up for the Festival will go into the lunch period. Parents may load cars and take projects home after the Festival, however, students are expected to remain at school and attend their afternoon classes. 8th Grade Parents: This is a very exciting time for your student. Please make sure your student is preparing for his/her finals next week. A few things for your calendar:
June 7 Finals for Language Arts and P.E. June 8 Finals for Social Studies and Science June 9 Finals for Math and Electives June 11 Culmination Rehearsal & Yearbook Distribution
Please note: students must attend both culmination rehearsals in order to participate in the Culmination ceremony.
Culmination Dance, 7-9pm Please pick up your students at 9pm sharp! The dance is NOT formal: however, no t-shirts, tank tops, or shorts will be allowed.
June 14 8th Grade Trip to Golf n' Stuff Admission, unlimited ride and golf pass, 10 tokens, and pizza lunch are included in the ticket price. Students may purchase additional tokens and snack items at Golf n' Stuff. School dress code applies to the event-no bathing suits or flip-flops!
June 15 Last Day of School - Culmination Rehearsal Culmination Ceremony, 6:30pm Students need to report to their assigned rooms no later than 5:45pm and be dressed in appropriate culmination attire: Boys: Long pants (no shorts) and a collared shirt Girls: School appropriate dress. No heels or flip-flops.
Culmination is held on the far north end of campus (field behind the District Office). The District Office lot, the south parking lot, and A.E. Wright blacktop will be open for parking. Parking is extremely limited near the ceremony site. Please be prepared to walk a bit and sit out in the open. Shade is limited. Please note: Culmination seating will be available at 5:30pm. by Deborah Vangelos & Mathy Wasserman
Dear AE Wright Parents,
It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end. Spring is in the air and the kids are dreaming of lazy days at the beach!
We want you all to know how grateful we are to have a community of parents that stepped up to the plate throughout tough economic times this year to continue their support of the AEW PFC. Your ongoing financial commitments have allowed our programs to flourish and help continue on in our tradition of providing the best public education available.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our beyond amazing, caring and lifelong committed teachers, administrators, faculty and staff for the sacrifices they have made this year which not only support their fellow educators, but keep class sizes down for our children. Children who graduate from the LVUSD system continue to go on the the finest colleges, universities and work programs available (in fact this has been a particularly stellar year); and we would not have the incredible successes that we do if it were not for their hard work and ongoing dedication. Please take a moment before the end of the year to acknowledge the teachers and staff!
Thank you Ann Devaney for putting together an awesome and fun filled Spartan Fitness Challenge. The kids had a blast...and so did some of the mom's hanging out in the back of the Zumba room with Stacy White! Thank you Mary Steele, Nancy Boumier and Susan Taylor for all your hard work and fun...making the day fly by.
Our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Lunch was wonderful; a special break in the routine to let the people who care for our children know how much we appreciate all they do. Thank you Rachel Werner and Marina Wachter for creating a warm and beautiful luncheon, and for all the lovely breakfast treats you have provided throughout the year. Thank you to all our volunteers who came to help set up, serve, bring yummy desserts and clean up!
We would also like to thank some of our behind the scenes heroes. Alison Hooper for putting together this beautiful e-newsletter for the last three years, Irene Hecht for her ongoing work with Community Partnerships and as our Secretary, Cassie Alter for being a fabulous Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa Jesse and Nanette Klein for their ongoing job as Treasurers and Kim Long and Susie Rome for all their work on the Donor Drive. Also, a huge and very grateful thank you to our Beautification Chair Karen DeJesse, who single handedly transformed the look of our campus this year. Her vision, unwavering commitment and hard work has been ongoing and we can't thank her enough. We so appreciate you all!
Please consider how you can become involved in your child's education next year. They still need you and so do we! Check out
aewparentvolunteer@gmail.com to find out about the different ways you can participate. Also, please check below and read up about the new pilot program AEW is participating in. The LVUSD PFC Alliance is another innovative and NO COST way that businesses can help to support our school. If you know someone with a business that might be interested, please share the good news!
To our graduating 8th graders, good luck at your respective High Schools. To all the rest, we look forward to seeing you next year.
Happy Summer!

| ____________________________________________________________________________ | The LVUSD PFC Alliance Program by Corrine Foster
We all need to be creative these days, we have to rethink our businesses and even the way we donate to the causes we hold dear . . . .
LVUSD PFC Alliance has aligned with Applied Merchant Systems and your Children's LVUSD Schools. We intend to bring together our "local merchant community" for a common cause - which represents hundreds of millions in potential transaction processing dollars - to redirect a residual income into our school district. This not only benefits the local merchants and industries, but also 'gives back' to support our children, faculty, and schools!
Applied Merchant Systems plans to generate funding dollars from our collective merchant community through referrals from our school districts extended families and friend's, by processing their credit card transactions and donating 25 percent of its fee income back to the Las Virgenes Schools.
This program is not only advantageous for the merchants at no additional cost; but also serves the Las Virgenes Schools within our community with much needed donations. To learn more about the program, click on the logo. |
